The Locomotives

The Downs Light Railway Trust is proud to look after unqiue fleet of locomotives, each with a historically important heritage. Built from widely respected locomotive engineers, they have been specifically designed or later modified to enable young people to learn.

The three original locomotives of the Downs Light Railway are no longer in service. MAUD's existence became unknown after its sale in the 1930s. RANMORE sits in a private collection as a static exhibit. TUBBY remains the property of the Downs Light Railway Trust but in a dismantled state.
